Decorating Rules

A copy of the Decorating Rules and Regulations are given to families at the time of need and are always available at the park office.  Interment right owners agree, when purchasing interment rights, to abide by the Rules and Regulations as they exist at the time, or as they may be changed any time after the purchase.  Rules and Regulations are not “grandfathered.”  If one purchases an interment right under one set of Rules and Regulations, they are bound to be governed by all subsequent changes.

Prior to decorating any grave, be sure you are aware of the decorating rules pertaining to your section of the cemetery. If you have any questions, please contact the park office by stopping in or calling (765) 662-7295.

Rules & Regulations

Please note that the decorating rules laid out by Grant Memorial Park are done so for three reasons:

  1. To keep the park staff and its visitors safe, particularly during the mowing season.
  2. Unapproved items provide challenges for our grounds crew and causes increased work as they have to make multiple stops while mowing to move these items.
  3. By following the Rules and Regulations, we are able to keep the grounds beautiful and well kept.

Prohibitted Items

  1. Unapproved containers. Any containers not purchased at the park office must be approved.
  2. Shepherd’s hooks
  3. Glass items
  4. Anything left on or near the marker (examples: coins, cars, trinkets, or any metal or plastic items that can cause harm if hit with a mower or weed eater.)

Other Rules & Regulations

  1. Flowers will be left on the grave following an interment for a period of one week.
  2. Solar lights are permitted as long as they are in an approved container, are not more than 35” tall and are made of plastic.
  3. Pets are permitted on cemetery grounds as long as on a leash and supervised by owner.

PLEASE NOTE: DECORATIONS NOT CONFORMING TO THE DECORATING RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL BE REMOVED WITHOUT NOTICE.

Year Round Decorating

There will be ONE APPROVED CONTAINER allowed per interment for floral decorations at any time throughout the year. All other containers/decorations will be removed without notice. No items are to be left on the ground or floor of the mausoleum.

Winter Decorating

In addition to the above, grave blankets and wreaths will be permitted through the holiday and winter season.

Cemetery Clean-Off

Grant Memorial Park empties all containers of seasonal flowers and removes any unapproved items starting March 15 of every year to prepare for the mowing season.  Any new decorations can be placed starting March 20.  To keep up the appearance of the mausoleum, any seasonal items will be removed from the inside and any seasonal and/or weathered flowers will be removed from the outside. Any items families wish to keep need to be removed prior to this date.

Memorial Day Exception

More than the one decoration may be placed on the grave one week prior to Memorial Day and must be removed by the following Friday if the family wishes to keep. Any decorations remaining on that day will be removed by the park staff.

Special Occasions

Families may use special decorations for birthdays and anniversaries. The park office must be notified before placement of these items.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF MARCH 15, 2020 WHITE CONCRETE POTS WILL NO LONGER BE PERMITTED

We will be moving to all inverted vases. Display samples are located in the park office.
